Answering journalists’ questions during the press-conference on Thursday, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak confirmed that during yesterday’s meeting of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and representatives of the Party of Regions faction, a possibility of dissolution of the Parliament and early elections was discussed.
According to Volodymyr Rybak, the Head of State stressed that if the deputies do not reach agreement and settle issues “which the Government, the Parliament and local authorities should settle,” the President of Ukraine will have to consider the issue on dissolution of Parliament.
The Chairman of the Parliament stated that the President of Ukraine called all PMs to adopt a decision that allows “release people from jail and vacate all administrative premises for the local self-government authorities to work ordinarily.”
“I will gather all factions’ leaders for consideration of these issues, otherwise I will address the people of Ukraine about the dissolution of the Parliament,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada cited President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
Volodymyr Rybak emphasized that there are a lot of problems that should be settled, and stated that representatives of the government and the opposition have started listening to each other.
